If I remember correctly, I got my first DSLR in November of 2008. I will never forget that rainy day. I remember looking at Magnet as I pulled it out of the box, kind of scared to touch it. But touch it I did, and I've been a passionate, crazy, obsessed person about this art ever since. I love discovering who I am as a photographer, and one thing I've noticed is that old and rusty, colorful and classic cars make me want to click my heels. Lately I haven't even had to go scouting them out. They just seem to arrive at my sessions. At this photoshoot, I started with Claire and her cute fam standing against the shingled wall below. And then Claire said, “Marie, look at that car. It looks just like you.”

I taken Images in the last weeks - please tell me what they tell you:
From working with the cast since Season 2, Frank has developed a bond with the actors and creative directors. His images are a crucial element to the series, representing the first visual cues seen by the public. In short, his photos need to be as dynamic as the show itself.
What was it like, shooting the Season 4 promos?
This year, being the whole new start, the fresh start, it was the empty office. Before anyone had been into it — I think they'd done one full week of shooting beforehand — we went in and took Jon's or Donald Draper's office apart and it was the first time anyone had been in. So they had just finished building this beautiful set two weeks prior and we walked in and put a lighter carpet on the floor and basically recreated the shot. We had to take a couple of that walls out just to get that shot. That's how much commitment the crew has to the show to get that right.
What else goes into creating each one of these shots?
On the day we do the publicity, which is kind of great also, it's great to know the characters because you can set them in a situation, shoot them, and walk away. We actually spent no longer then 15 to 20 minutes shooting each of those publicity pictures. And they're designed and thought out prior — “Jon is sat down in a chair, there is a woman leaning over him bringing him a drink, there is a crowded bar behind him.” We'll shoot that and then move right on to the next one. We don't do 26 variations of that. There is the moment that they are looking for and we'll work until we capture that.
Jon and the actors will change little details as we're shooting, but what they're changing isn't the background, or he's moving or switching left to right, but he's making simple changes like having a drink in his hand or a cigarette lit or bringing the cigarette to his mouth. A lot of planning does go into these though. We'll sit and discuss the types of photography of the era and and what type of photography would make the most sense. Last season was an Avedon-type group shot. This season was an Irving Penn-esque shot of the cast. It's like having another Christmas once a year, when I get to walk in with the full cast and play.
Here is the problem… I am having a private beach wedding & the reception is going to be a few weeks later. We are on a very tight budget for both so I asked one of my friends (who is a professional photographer) to take some pictures at the reception only. When I called her just to make sure that we were both clear on the date, she said she was going to charge me 0 for pictures of the reception only!! Another family friend (also a professional) offered to take pictures for free (as my present from her) and just give me the digital disk from her camera so I could do what I wanted with the pics. How do I tell friend # 1 that I can’t afford her services and that we are going to go with friend #2. She is going to be a the reception regardless and I really dont want to hurt her feelings, I just cant afford her on my tight budget.

I made some Fotos in the last months - please tell me if you think they are good:
This photo by narinnr from Kagoshima, Japan (the Naples of the East, says Wikipedia) captures a Ferris wheel built atop a shopping center next to the train station. How fun is that? Imagine if you could kill time between trains at Penn Station riding high above New York?! I'm partial to the Gravitron when choosing an amusement ride, although spinning around against centrifugal force is probably not so fun before a long train ride.
Even more interesting are the statues in front of the Ferris wheel, part of the Satuma students' monument, dedicated to 19 Japanese students smuggled into Britain in 1865 to learn Western technology. Imagine being the first in your country to study abroad and being responsible for the start of the industrial revolution. Kinda makes a semester abroad in Prague drinking as much beer as humanly possible seem a little weak.
Do you have a photo that will inspire many Google and Wikipedia searches? Or maybe an interesting monument or an unusually-located amusement ride in your travels? Upload it to Gadling's Flickr group and we might use it for a future Photo of the Day.
The key difference is how long between the fights.
In this case: nine months.
If he had a six month layoff, he’d still be “twice a year”. But his next fight would be in September.
For instance, if he sticks with nine months layoff, he will only fight once next year.
Anyway, you’re right – he’s not going to fight all the time, and there’s not really much point to it anyway, since there isn’t anyone for him to fight. The problem is that if you guarantee people like the winner of Kampmann/Shields and Alves/Fitch title shots, then they sit on the shelf a long time. So it’s more about the rest of the division than it is about the champ.

Sony has announced a new interchangeable lens HD camcorder that is based around a DSLR style camera. It is called the Sony NEX-VG10 and is capable of capturing video in HD.
The camera can capture at HD 1920 x 1080 in the AVCHD format. Video is captured at 60i (60 interlaced frames per second). Manual controls are found on the camera which include control for the shutter, iris, white balance and gain. Still images can also be captured manually if required.
The camera uses the same CMOS sensor and E-Mount lenses that the NEX-5 and NEX-3 digital SLR cameras use. When the NEX-VG10 ships late 2010 it will come with an 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 zoom lens.
When capturing stills the camera captures with a 14 megapixel sensor and can capture in a burst mode at 7 frames per second if needed.
After using the NEX-VG10 for a few minutes during a recent demo, it became clear that Sony didn't just slap an interchangeable lens mount onto a camcorder; the scene modes and controls for both video and stills make the NEX-VG10 a refined and versatile double-duty weapon. Weighing in at almost 3 lbs., it's not the lightest camcorder on the block, but holding it via its top-mounted handle rather than its side-mounted hand strap lessened its heft quite a bit.
The Sony NEX-VG10 will be made available in September and will cost $2000 when launched.

The 18-200mm lens alone is $800. The lens bundled with this camera alone is more expensive then the NEX5 + kit lens. These 11x zoom lenses are expensive for dSLRs, $800 is around the same as what Canon, Nikon charge for their 18-200mm lenses. Aside from image-stabilization this lens comes with ultra-silent motor and aperture, so you don't here the lens moving while you take video.
If you purchased a NEX5 + the 18-200mm lens bundled with this camera it would cost $1,500 (but you'll also get the cheaper kit lens that came with the NEX5, since they don't sell the NEX5 body-only).
Aside from that you get full AVCHD implementation, external quad-microphone array, second headphone output monitoring, and there are also probably modifications to the sensor to make it more suitable for video. Such as anti-aliasing optical lowpass filter designed for video rather then stills. There is also the possibility that HDMI is uncompressed, which when raw capture via nanoflash.

We bought this camcorder in red last week. When you pick it up for the first time I must admit its a little disconcerting because its so light. For this sort of money you expect a chunky weighty sort of feel. Well if you can get past that you really do get a good camcorder for the money.
From out of the box to first use requires about a 2 hour battery charge. Once done its pretty easy to use the basic features. A touch screen on the LCD panel, which tilts by the way, gets you up and running without having to look at the manual. The printed version of which is short but a longer one comes on the registration CD supplied together with a media package for organising and transferring files to your PC.
Once you are ready to go the camera starts the moment you flip open the screen and uncover the lens with the built in lens cover. If you forget to uncover the lens it even asks you to do it. No waiting to warm up so you won’t miss any hilarious camcorder moments or children jumping at you pretending to be monsters. From fliping the screen to recording is probably less than one second.
Battery life is shown on the LCD screen in minutes, I wish mobile phones would do the same. Zoom at 60x sounds impressive but in low light it suffers.
There are couple of accessories worth considering for this camera. A longer life battery, you get about 2 hours on the one supplied. If you are away from a PC a memory card would be useful to add to the memory. Although with only two hours recording on the battery a memory card is pretty useless without another battery. As for cases well the camera is so small and light you can get away with all sorts of different cases, Jessops always seem to have a bargin bin of camera cases which are worth looking at before they close down.
Overall a good camcorder for the money. Light, easy to use and transfer movies to the PC. Bad points, if you have big fat fingers like me the LCD touch panel can take a bit of getting used to, could do with being £30 cheaper, should give you better battery with it as standard and a DVD authoring software would be a good addition too.

I must be honest, direct. I am a lover of Apple. If Apple does it (or “made” it) I have. I bought a slightly different pattern, just over a year. Of course, I love it! Plus I used it more I fell in love in love with several hobbies, media, music and make video, photography, web browsing, and software development. Everything I went from PC to Mac! Notice that I said the PC “s”. A Mac, in fact, take about 8-12 years. As long as you take good care of him, he falls into this period of time, and then some.

I write this as a warning to any business person or student who intends to use this product abroad for extended periods. I am a big fan of Apple, having purchased 8 Apple systems for myself or family members over the past 25 years. But now that loyalty has been seriously shaken because of warranty repair issues. I purchased a 13.3-Inch MacBook as a Christmas present for my son who was going to Greece for a semester study abroad program.
While in Athens in January, one month after purchasing the MacBook, the system failed to boot. My son called U.S. phone support from Greece and they initially diagnosed the problem as a faulty startup disk. However, they said they were unable or unwilling to ship replacement startup disks from the U.S. to Athens. Instead, they sent them to me and I was forced to pay $25 in shipping fees to Fed Ex them to Athens.
The new startup disks, however, did not solve the problem and Apple phone support in the U.S. said he needed to send the system in for warranty repairs. Again, Apple said they were unable or unwilling to pay shipping costs for products under warranty that were outside the country of purchase.
Apple has no authorized warranty repair services in Greece. U. S. phone support people said that the closest Apple authorized service facilities were in Italy. Again, however, they said they could not pay for shipping from Greece to Italy. What’s more, the European service centers may charge for warranty repairs because the MacBook was purchase in the U. S., U.S.-based Apple support people said
In desperation, I had my son ship the faulty MacBook back to me in the U.S.at a cost of close to $275. I then forwarded the system to Apple for repairs (hard drive replacement) at the U.S. service center. Once again, Apple said it was unable or unwilling to ship the repaired system from the U.S. directly to my son in Athens. Instead they shipped it back to me. I then gave the system to a friend who was going to visit my son in Athens, saving me the return $275 shipping fee.
The upshot is that I spent $300 on shipping fees to repair a one-month old MacBook because Apple product warranties only work in the country where the product is purchased. Apple claims to have “world-class support.” This is simply not true. If you have a problem with an Apple product outside the country of purchase the warranty is useless and you are on your own.
In retrospect, I should have purchased a laptop from a company with more extensive global operations and has more experience doing business globally, such as HP. If Apple wants to be a global player in the global economy, it needs to have a working global warranty policy.

I bought my Asus Afterglow u50f New at BB on clearance for 585th 99th I went to BB with the intention of purchasing a Toshiba, but happened to see the Afterglow and thought I would try an Asus. I must say that I’m really happy with my purchase. Although a larger laptop, it’s still light and easy to carry. Of course, the exterior is a fingerprint magnet, but what is nowadays computer, right? It is very glossy black with a glossy finish like. The keys are smooth, quiet and precise. I love the 10-key on the side just in case. The screen is bright and the colors are perfect. I’m still getting used to Windows 7 . . so far not bad. The bottom of the unit remains cool (the wings on his back, left side of the computer), so that I can literally hold in your lap. The touchpad has a little getting used to, and I was not crazy about the bar, it was really stiff out of the box. After some use, it is now much easier to push. The speakers are decent, I was not expecting much from them. I was pleasantly surprised when I started to hear music and they do not like small speakers. The optical drive is a bit thin, but I’m not planning on inserting a disc while walking around the house, so I think that I’m okay. I do not have to test the length of battery life. Plently of the USB ports, HDMI port, and is expandable up to 8GB. Within the unit-i3-processor, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB of memory. I can not ask for more, not yet;)
